Marinade Parade

Just sampled the most amazing marinade that Teresa is making for our dinner tonight. It is a Polish recipe for Smoked Paprika Chicken, and the marinade is incredible. Strangely, it tastes a bit like that deep brown colored roasted salsa you can get at some restaurants – almost a mole flavor, really. I’m thinking of re-tasking this marinade for the next Mexican dinner I make. Oh, and we just had a most wonderful and unexpected rain storm – one of those big-drop Spring storms from a cloud that just came up and built until it burst. Now the rain is over, but there is thunder all around – nice crisp cracks like in the storm in the Disneyland diorama of the Grand Canyon that you pass through on the train that goes all around the park. The sound alone brings back memories, just like the smell of diesel always makes memory flashes of the Autopia in Disneyland when I was 4 or 5, before they upgraded to the electric cars. Of course, diesel smells nothing like the marinade, but there you go… (Originally written on this day in 2019)
