Sunset in an Orchard in Salem, Oregon
Taken about ten years ago when we lived there – about 1/4 mile from our brand new apartment complex on the edge of the farmland.
Mindi
1882
Wrote this one in regard to a 1980s horror film I directed called The Strangeness, but never used it in the movie.
Mary and Mindi Explore the Floor
Some thirty-odd years ago, Mary and Mindi form a two-person conga line in the living room.
Huge Flock of Geese – Salem, Oregon
From ten years ago – huge flock of geese takes flight near our apartment in Salem, Oregon
Field of Geese (If you build it, they will flock)
My caption on YouTube from ten years ago when we lived in Salem: “We get a lot of geese here, especially over the Winter. Here they are near the city with our apartment complex in the background.”
The View Near Gladys Lake
Here’s a 360 view from halfway up the rocky knoll near our camp at Gladys Lake along the John Muir Trail on our 2019 section hike.
I Have Seen The Future
The one has a spiritual bent. Though my mom and dad were getting all “born again” in those days, I found myself in my teenage years not finding traditional religion a comfortable fit. I wrote this song somewhere in the early 70s, then recorded this version a few years later when I wanted permanent copies of my previously composed songs. I’m rather proud of the lyrics on this one. I wanted to put a twist on things to avoid cliches and traditional ways of looking at the path to salvation, and this is what I ended up with.
Llamas in Salem, Oregon
Just a couple of blocks from our brand new apartment building in Salem, Oregon some ten or so years ago was open farmland. We’d walk down the major street with lots of traffic, turn down a side street and these llamas were the first things we’d encounter. We could actually see this field from our apartment window. We were the first to rent this apartment after it was built, and the combination of modern convenience and being a stone’s throw from a rural environment was a combination you just don’t see too often. Many fond memories (and a few videos, which I’ll be posting over the weeks and months to come).
