Lord, Prevent Me From Movin’

Lyrics to a song I wrote in 1988:

Lord, prevent me from movin’
Lord, prevent me today.
I’m staying right here
’til I’ve conquered my fear,
so, Lord, prevent me from movin’

Lord, prevent me from strayin’
Lord, prevent me today.
I’ll stick to the path,
if you’ll hold back your wrath,
so, Lord, prevent me from strayin’

Whipped

Moments ago… Me, thinking to myself as I made cocoa for Teresa and me…

Wow – we’re almost out of cocoa. I better order some more from Amazon… Oh, wait a minute… I already did and its in the cabinet.

That’s nice. It’s good as I get older to be able to just order stuff and have it magically appear whenever I want it. I like having my groceries delivered and food brought to me from my favorite restaurants.

But doesn’t that make me soft? What about all those people in Germany before WWII who had all these years since the last war and got lulled into a sense of complacency. The didn’t have their grit anymore. Like those folks who stop in their tracks and sit down in the snow to die because they don’t have the drive to survive.

Wait – do we still have any whipped cream yet? I think there was still some in the can last week. Ah – yes… Here it is, I’ll give it to Teresa. Hell, if it comes to that, I’ll do us both…

Genus 1

Lines of dialog for some future book or other:

“Sometimes I like to eat toast in the bathroom so that that whole system from start to finish, top to bottom, gazinter to gazouter, is all at play, all at once: a topological symphony in the simultaneous chord of genus one.”
